It is part of God’s will that we get to experience his glory as his children. He wants us to behold the magnitude of all his characteristics that embody and encompass his glory but before we can experience this, we must know God personally. In Exodus 33 when Moses asked God to see his glory, the Lord responded with “I will also do this thing that you have spoken; for you have found grace in my sight, and I know you by name.” (Exodus 33:17). See the latter portion of that scripture is very important because God only showed Moses his glory because of their close relationship. God knew Moses by name. Many of us wish to see the innermost intimate parts of God’s character, but a fellowship and relationship must be built before that can happen. This is because once the glory of God is revealed to us, it comes with a responsibility of sacrifices.
To carry the weight of God’s glory is not necessarily a simple task. I’m sure we would all like to experience God’s glory, but the problem is that many of us are not ready or strong enough to carry that weight. It is impossible to carry the weight of God’s glory if pride and anger are already weighing on our shoulders. Because the weight of God’s glory is so immense, to carry it, we must shed the dead weights that are lingering and holding us down. To carry this weight, sacrifices are inevitable. To some who are unprepared and have not dropped their dead weights, carrying God’s glory might seem like a burden. But to those who have been through training and who have sacrificed those dead weights, it would come as a blessing.
Now, let me ask a question. When Moses returned from Mount Sanai in Exodus 34 after fasting for 40 days and nights, how is it possible that he came back and his face was glowing? Human knowledge would make us believe that after failing to eat or drink water for that amount of time, one would look weak or sick, but what human knowledge cannot fathom is the Glory of God. The Bible says that the skin of his face glowed because he had been speaking with God. (Exodus 34:29) This was not a coincidence. Moses carried the weight of God’s glory and in turn, was blessed, transformed and renewed. 2 Corinthians 3:18 says, “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” When we carry this weight, we start to become more and more like Christ. We receive blessings that even we cannot understand. When we carry this weight, outward lookers don’t see the weight, all they will see is the glory of God upon our lives.
So, make that decision to carry the weight of God’s glory and see how your life will begin to shine. Thank you, and God bless.
