have Zoe.” Should be the daily confession of every believer because we truly have Zoe. Zoe is a Greek word which means the life of God. Zoe is the very nature of God. When we got born again, we received this nature. This is what 2 Cor 5:17 means by “If anyone be in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” At new birth, we received a new nature which is God’s nature, and our old sinful nature was done away with.
Jesus made this possible at the cross. “God made Jesus who knew no sin to be sin for us that we might become the righteousness of God in him,” (2 Cor 5:21) Jesus took our own sinful nature upon himself and got a death sentence. He transferred his righteous nature to us and we got eternal life. This tells us that anyone who is not in Christ has a death sentence hanging over them. The only way out is to have Zoe and Zoe is in Christ only. John 1:4 tells us that “in him (Christ) was life (Zoe) and [that] life was the light of men. The light shines in darkness, and darkness did not understand it or overpower it or appreciate it or absorb it.” Simply put, the Zoe life in Christ is the only way out of eternal darkness.
Since Zoe is eternal life, it is very easy for one to limit it to being saved from sin and having the assurance of reigning with God in heaven alone. However, we don’t have to wait until we get to heaven before reigning. The Zoe life is meant for our reign on earth also. “He has made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth.” Receiving the Zoe life is stepping back into God’s original plan of his children having dominion over the earth. If you have Zoe, you have what it takes to exercise dominion over the earth, over sin, sicknesses and diseases, Satan and his demons, fear, poverty, shame, condemnation, anxiety, and every other thing that should remain under your feet.
The reality however is that a lot of believers do not walk in the reality of Zoe. This must end because God did not send his Son to die and give us life only for us to remain in bondage. The life of God in us will not manifest if we do not appropriate it. First, we need to know that we have his life in us. Ignorance is the first killer of God’s people. We must know what we have in Christ. After knowing, we must the practice the consciousness of the life of God in us. That is we must be God-inside minded. Then, we need to put God’s word in heart and then in our mouth.
Why is the confession of God’s word about our redemption so important? Because Jesus is the Word and, in the Word, (Jesus) is life (Zoe) Jesus himself confirms this in John 6:63. “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words I speak to you are spirit, and they are life (Zoe). This tells us that when we speak the word of God over our lives, we are setting in motion the law of the spirit of life in Christ Jesus. That law begins to enforce the will of God over every area of our lives. As we confess the word of God, we are making the Zoe life in our spirit flow into our minds to enforce soundness of minds and to our bodies to enforce wholeness. We are canceling every pattern that had been created by sin and replacing them with divine patterns. We are enforcing the fact that we have been born of God and we have his genes. Therefore, we have no link to the curse anymore because we have been born into the blessing.
On this day, we celebrate Jesus who died and rose again to give us life. He purchased our redemption from the curse with his blood and redeemed us into the blessing. The life of God in us is that blessing so let us not keep quiet about it. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so. We are the redeemed of the Lord, so do we say? We say, “I have Zoe!
