A name is only as strong as its reputation. Great names remind us about what a person was known for. You hear Einstein, and you think brilliance. You hear Mother Theresa, and you think compassion. You hear the names of those who have impacted, and something rises in you. But there is one name…One name that doesn’t just command attention; it commands heaven, earth, and even hell to respond. The name of Jesus!

But here’s the twist — if His name is powerful beyond compare; Ask yourself this question. Why do so many believers call upon His name with no effect? Now, let’s revisit a story — an important one. There was a man called Sceva, who was a priest and had seven sons. His sons saw Paul casting out demons using the name of Jesus. So, they tried to do so too, and guess what? The demon leapt at them and beat them to stupor. But why? Because they used the name… without knowing the essence. They knew the name, but not the One it belongs to.

It is the understanding of the power in that name that makes it more effective. You see, the name of Jesus isn’t a code, a spell, and it certainly isn’t magic. The name of Jesus is powerful, but only when wielded with faith. And that’s why even though some people shout Jesus or some constantly keep repeating Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. Just because I know the name Bill Gates or Dangote does not mean that I know them personally or can use their names to gain access to places or people. You must understand the riches found in the name of Jesus. Without that understanding, you won’t call on His name with boldness. Many people call His name, but they do it in fear, not in faith. While some have the knowledge but do not apply it in their daily lives. Some only understand the power of Jesus in healing the sick or speaking in tongues but are scared to cast out demons. The bible reminds us in Galatians 3:17 that in all we do, do in the name of Jesus.

The name Jesus or Yeshua, means “God saves.” Prov 18:10 reminds us that “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.” The name is not just our Savior. It gives us access to the presence of God. It heals the sick, raises the dead, casts out demons (mark 16: 17-18), and gives us answers to our prayers. That power is only accessible through faith. Not fear, not tradition, not desperation, not because we heard the name someplace. But faith. So, I ask you — when you say, “In the name of Jesus” do you believe in the name you are calling? Or is it a habit? Do you say it like you know the King? Or like you are just quoting scripture? Because that name is not powerless. It is not empty. It carries the full weight of Heaven. When you speak it in faith, miracles must happen. Mountains must move. Chains break and every sickness is healed. So, I invite you, right now —Not just to say the name, but to know the name, to trust the name. To believe in the power behind the name. Because when you carry the name of Jesus in your mouth — with faith in your heart — you carry something that makes hell tremble. Let us stop using His name in fear. Let us stop using His name as a habit and let us start using His name in faith. Because when you do, every knee will bow. Every storm will hush.
